How do you store your planes?

Here's what I came up with tonight. It ain't amazing, but it works!

Somehow I missed this topic. It's a question I've been meaning to ask too, just in case I was doing something that was bad for them in the long term. Here are six of mine. The Little Devil is off to the left of the picture.:

Some of them don't hang exactly vertical, and when I pulled my Bean down to start fixing it, the fuse was curved. Maybe because of the way it's hanging. I go around and oil the ones that don't get much action for a month or so, and I wonder if it's best for the engines to be pointed up or down, or if it matters. I don't want to clog the oil groove in the crank tubes. What do you think, should I try something else. After years of sitting on its wheels, the Stuntman's wings sag slightly.

I think the best bet is vertical with the nose up or down. If model is going to sit for an extended period of time the engine should probably be dissassembled and cleaned anyway before you take it out again.

I am hanging mine by the tail to keep the weight off the wings, but either way would probably work fine.

Not sure why your Bean fuse warped. Is your shop damp?

Hanging from the tail or nose, or just resting on the fuselage works fine. I guess the wing is the only really sensitive part.

Oooh, I might sneak in there and borrow that Hyper Viper. You'll know I did if it's all greasy one day.

Could you take a couple of pictures of it from profile and overhead perspectives. Maybe an underneath shot too. That might help me fine tune the shape of my profile replica of it that I'm building.

This plane has a nose longer than me mother-in-law. Hard photo to take and show what you want, hope these help.
Drove to the 55 miles to a field the other day, no one there, great. Got set up to fly the Hiper Viper and a storm blew up, o crap.
Still not flown. The photos are better full size, I can Email if you like.

The yellow one is a Baby Clown, its not been flown either.

Oh yeah, now I remember you building that. I am kinda second guessing wether or not I should have modified mine. Now it's a race to see who flies theirs first! Very Happy

55 miles is a long way to go. Is there not something closer?

I hang all my planes from the leadouts. Most people agree this is harmful, but I've been doing it for over 30 years. The biggest problem I see in doing this is that the oil runs out the venturi's and onto the floor. I always wondered if this is bad for the termination of the leadout at the bellcrank as it could possibly cause a crease in the wire resulting in a stress riser. Also over a period of a few weeks, the rubber bands holding the tanks on my profiles fall apart and then the tanks start dropping onto the floor. Most of the time, they'll hang from the fuel line but it isn't uncommon to see them on the floor. I used to have a few planes under the ones hanging until the tanks went through the wings. Unfortunately due to space restraints this is the only way I can store them. Ken

Perfect. That's all I needed. I already had the basic dimensions from Happydad in another thread, but I wanted that overhead and profile so I could see the shapes of the wingtips and rudder more closely. Thanks,
