Tree Eaters Club?
Yep I did.
Unwound the lines and paced off the circle. It looked like I could fit it in, always managed too before... almost. On the second lap just as the engine finished unloading and came up to full speed, the Fun Light blinked on and I was ready to get started. And KAWHAAP! I bit it good this time. Broke the prop but there is no other apparent damage. Just dirty as hell. I took the Li'l Satan out too so I figured I'd hook it up to the 35' lines and give it a go. Then a guy shows up with a chainsaw to work on some fallen limbs too near the circle. Did ya crash, ayukayukayuk.
If I don't drink too many beers during the Carolina-Florida game, I might go out late this afternoon.

In my aged wisdom there are several things that I DON'T do after imbibing.
Flying and snow skiing are two of them.

So...for those of us that have a deficit of trees...do fence posts and the occasional fieldbox count ???

Weeell they shouldn't. But since I wrapped my lines around my stooge stool while landing recently, we'll give you a pass.

Yikes! Did your AMA insurance cover his medical bills?Mudhen wrote:I've eaten a few trees, too.
I also pile drived a PT-19 into a spectator...does that count?
Not a bad idea for a new emoticon.

That damn tree made me mad. So did the fact that the guy showed up to work in the churchyard and I couldn't try the Li'l Satan again. I think the engine problem the first time I tried it with the new Tee Dee was just the too-short fuel line crimping in the wind. Should be all better now.

Hey now I'm going to be an official control line pilot!
Late last night I e-mailed an RC club at nearby Fort Jackson, telling them of my shrinking field woes and asking if they had a CL field. This morning at 9:30 a guy called me on the phone and invited me to bring my plane and come fly. He said if I was a frequent visitor I probably should join the AMA, which, in my e-mail to them, I said I would do. So I think I'll mosey on over there this afternoon and scope it out, maybe fly a plane or two.

Re: Tree Eaters Club?
Is Fort Jackson convenient? Or at leasr as convenient as walking across the street? One really good thing about being in a club is the comraderie. I wish someone close by flew CL that's for sure.
