[solved]Wanted Cox Tee Dee .051 Plastic Red carb body WTB
FOUND Wanted to Buy or trade for Cox parts: I need a Tee Dee .051 red carburetor body to replace a cracked body on one of my TD .051 engines. I have a new in package Tee Dee .049/.051 needle and clip, (spring) Cox p/n 1709 and many other cox parts to trade including 2 - .020 fuel tanks, 2 - .020 metal backplates, both with 1 broken mounting loop and both with good needle and spring. also i have several medallion .049 red plastic carburetor/venturi bodies. buy or trade. reasonable prices only. i know what they cost thru the usual sources so please don't bother to refer me to them.
I may even consider parting out parts from a 3rd TD .051 that is missing the entire carburetor/venturi/spray bar/needle assembly. it has a #5 cylinder, .051 piston with ring, and a used crankcase and crankshaft. the backplate and collet have plier marks and need replacing.

Does the .051 backplate still hold crankcase pressure?

Curious but both of my TD .051's have BLACK venturi (not carbuetor) bodies and I know for certain that they are original and correct.
The terms "venturi" and "carburetor" are very often confused. I attempted to get a thread going on this subject but it fell flat.

SD, It was hard at one time to find both red and black carb bodies so one would have to get what was available. I have seen a couple of NIB with the wrong colored parts.

my interpretation of the TD .051 carb body, from Matt, is the red plastic, or aluminum, part that holds the spraybar/needle assembly and the venturi. the venturi is the part the air enters the engine thru. and all the venturis i have seen were aluminum, or silver in color. i have not seen one anodized. happydad

I could be wrong, but those cylinders look to be a thick wall on the left an an early thin wall on the right. Explanation for the #2 is in your other topic.

I got some OEM .050 red carb body's new in bag. However, these got a little platic pin to hold the muffler on its place.

Bastiaan, I'm not sure I know what that is. Can you post a picture?

That's how all the OEM carb bodies from Bernie and MECOA look. I thought the little extra tab was to make the body harder to break seeing how that's one of the more common areas to find a crack or split.

If I'm not mistaken the described "pin" extending from the venturi body is the facory location of the pressure system described in the Cox manual. To be functional the "pin" must be drilled to receive pressure from the pulse of the rotary valve with each engine revolution.
