Re: throttle/speed control manually while flying
I thought that was more common on bigger c/l planes.
Poked around a little and found this thread with an .049 application.

I think Cox employed a 3 line setup on some of their RTF models. I am pretty sure the PT Ryan .020 did. I have the engine out of one and it had a throttle ring and a little hole drilled through the crankcase for a spring I presume.

Well, there ya go!
Mine didn't have the spring. No matter though as I took the cylinder set and throttle ring off and put it on a TD .020

Te abov link is thbest way I've seen to run 1/2A throttle. I bought the backplate/throttle only then modified an old engine. I started paint today on a .049 proto type, if the wheather holds Sunday I should have it complete enough for a picture. I fly .40 size carrier now and I'm starting a new .15 size tonight. Then after that a .36 size. Throttle planes are a blast.

Well that shows how new I am to this. I thought I had a new idea but it looks like I am over 40 years too late!

I' say about 65 years to late ifI had to guess. I believe the first NATs carrier contest was 1952. But its not to late to join the fun. I'll send some pictures after church of tonight if we still have flying weather.
