Cox Engine of The Month
RR-1 (ebay)

RR-1 (ebay)
I don't have the time or money to bid on this, so I'll post it here.

Looks like it will clean up well - other than a possible bent needle, I don't see any real damage. The tank looks near perfect.

Re: RR-1 (ebay)
Good find Matt,
I am not sure the needle is bent. Two screws are loose on the tank, my bet is the tank is just cocked.

Jason and I were discussing the back plate...It looks alot darker then original RR1's of that era....Maybe not an original back-plate for that particular engine?? I don't know?

Re: RR-1 (ebay)
I'd think as nice as the tank looks, it hadn't been 'played with' much, remember the backplates went to a 'brass' finish in '58-'59 and the Tee Dee Spinner didn't appear till '61. The needle does look bent.

I didn't notice the obvious the first time around, but the backplate has filler tubes.

Re: RR-1 (ebay)
The backplate filer tubes may not be drilled through all the way. Some RR-1s were shipped like that I believe. The other unknown is if the cylinder has 2 bypass ports. That could have been swapped in the past also.

I think you can call that one "frank" as is "Frankenstein"
I am not surprised it is $40 already.

Re: RR-1 (ebay)
Im in the wrong thread!! I was refering to this E-Bay item that we were discussing....a silver RR1 Here http://www.ebay.com/itm/151010736374?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649...That backplate looks fine..RR1's were shipped like this...I have a NIB RR1 just like that one in the picture with the exact back-plate as that...they were produced with filer tubes at the top but as Jason stated, they are not drilled!! Sorry for the mispost!!
