Doesn't the 'W type plug' date it to around 70/71?

Its strange about those large engines.
We all have seen the prototype cox 40, and it looked nothing like those.
I wonder if there was at least a prototype of those engines also? and if yes, do they still exist somewhere.

Those are pretty cool. If I had a CAD program, I could probably make working drawings from the iso.

By the other models in the catalogue it was printed about late 60s, why would they be in a catalogue and not have at least a prototype.

Re: Old Cox Catalogue engines that never were
There is a listing on ebay right now for a Cox Conquest .40 sandcast prototype engine. Not sure if it is similar. Kind of looks the same. The engine in the picture looks like it is a rear rotorary valve.
The one on the bay looks really rough around the head fins. Suprises me that it is a Cox. Roy's engines were alway's quite clean.

Actually, there are two of those conquest 40's on ebay. A sandcast one, and a diecast one.
I'm not surprised at the roughness, they are proto's, why bother with fine machining for appearance if they are not to be sold and just for testing.
