Engine mounting
I just ordered one of these and plan on mounting a pressure feed reed valve on it.

The engine uses a product backplate and I don't want to use wood screws because the holes always strip out. Any suggestions? The firewall backs up against the balsa cheeks so I don't think a blind nut will work.

Re: Engine mounting
Hello Jim,
Why don't you use studs? What I mean is drilling holes into the engine mount as per model of your engine back plate. Then insert countersunk screws in the engine mount from behind and secure them with epoxy. This avoids any problem with worn out or elongated holes.

Re: Engine mounting
No problem to use blind nuts if you have not glued the bulkhead on yet. You will want to hollow cheek blocks slightly to provide relief for screw length. You can simply use a 1/8 (or so) inch drill bit and make a pocket in the proper location about 1/4 inch deep.
The hard part is keeping the screws clean of glue when putting together. Wax some screws then thread the waxed screws into the blind nuts (and maybe after threaded in too). The screws will not get glued in place this way, you just thread them out when the glue is cured.
