At one point I have thought about making a Cox slot car, train and other toy section on the forum. If anyone thinks that would be good, let me know.

I have never seen them discussed until now, so probably not practical.

FYI, Cox was really late to the slot car party, although very well designed and made, they failed miserably in the market...almost like the Aurora RTF airplanes.

Two of the best engineered toys ever made from and are still popular today: Cox .049 engines and Aurora T-jet and A/FX HO scale cars!

if there was a category needed to be added it would be: COX MODELS or COX PLASTIC RTF

As sometimes info posted gets lost as it ends up in engines or airplanes, balsa type.

You're speaking of an Aurora plane correct, not a Cox slot car?

I love the Aurora planes, just wish I could afford them!

I haven't seen much information about Aurora RTF planes. The ones I have seen on Ebay all look really good. High quality, and they sell for $$$$$$. Is there anyplace on the internet that has information about them. I have found the cox site, but not anything about Aurora that has any good info. Thanks, Andy

Just one... here's a pic I took today. My Grandfather gave this to me 20 years ago. The rear tires were replaced about 10 years ago. The place where we used to race; closed a couple years ago... sadly. It was called "Modelville Hobby" located in Ashland, MA (USA)

I really have not followed the cox slot cars that much as I collect the 049 powered Cars. Over here in Pennsylvania there are 2 local hobby shops that have Slot car tracks that stay Quite active. Ebay is a easy Alternative however prices Fluctuate like the weather. Have You thought about placing a add on Craigslist or Backpage? Bill Stek

Cox slot cars Empty Cox slot car forum

Post  NHBandit Tue 5 Nov 2019 - 9:02

Don't know about them being "late to the party" with the Chaparral 2 that came out in 1964 being the 2nd best selling slot car of all time. Jim Hall, the creator of the real Chaparral race cars even had Cox as a sponsor. My first encounter with slot cars was right about that time when I got a Cox Chaparral for Christmas. The Classic Manta Ray was #1. But anyway, I came here because of my hobby of collecting vintage 1960s slot cars and I think it would be a great idea to have a separate forum. I realize though that this is a fairly old thread so I'm not hoping for much. I actually found this place while doing a Google search for Cox hardware since I am in need of a few small bits.

It's never too late. It is actually nice in my opinion as you can resurrect old threads that have been forgotten, and a great way to strike up conversation!

The Cox hardware that you're looking for might be cross-referenced in a certain slot-car parts-index. My Cox Cucaracha is 1:32 scale I believe. It's still a popular class. I think there was the slang-name womp attached to that class?

Are you located in New Hampshire (US/New England)? The below weblink is a slot-car facility in Ashland, (Eastern) Massachusetts. Richard Payne is proprietor of Modelville Hobby. Richard helped me to set up my Cox Cucaracha with an alternate set of rear wheels/tires. He put the original wheels and knock-off hub (nuts) in a little clear plastic canister for my safe-keeping.

Below is a "Contact Us" link... but be sure to check out their facility.

http://modelvillehobby.com/contact/

Before you know it.. they'll probably be able to 3-D print tires in any size/tread-compound.

Plus 1 on that, Mark!
I busted out my 45+ yo AFX stuff and spent a full weekend swapping driver's seat with my boys. This was right in front of the debacle that was trying to introduce them to CL planes a few years back.
They liked running the cars. They didn't like cleaning pickup shoes, armatures, brushes, track, tires...
