.049 glow plug
Ok here is a good ?
on the .049 motors how tight do you put the stock cox glow plugs in ?
turn them till they bottom out and give em just a little more with the wrench or tighten them up hard?
is it better to not tighten to much and risk having a glow plug come loose then forcing them tight so you can't get them off and the whole cylinder comes off with it?
Thanks

Re: .049 glow plug
Cox only supplied a standard wrench to assemble/dissassemble the engines. It is far from a torque wrench.
That being said how tight you go is subjective. I personally just snug mine and check before flights to make sure it's still tight. The heating and cooling can loosen the heads or tighten them.
Anyway, it's really up to you. These engines were not designed to have anything torqued on real tight.

Just to add, having new copper gaskets is a must. They compress and work harden. If your plugs continuously come loose, replace the gaskets. Also, working the sealing surface on a piece of glass with some 400 paper and oil helps as well . I've heated the gaskets over an open flame until cherry red and let air cool which will give them new life. Ken

Depends! If you're a farmer just do it up until it goes soft and then back it off ¼ of a turn .

Re: .049 glow plug
I tighten Cox cylinder heads until they are "snug" which is entirely a subjective measuremant determined by experience but certainly doesn't require additional leverage on the Cox wrench.
