Up Early and On the Road on the 4th !!!!!!

Up Early and On the Road on the 4th !!!!!!
In spite of shutting down the office at 10pm, and hitting the sack at 10:45 the night before, I boldly set the alarm clock for 5 am and set about jamming all the fun possible into my Independence Day!
Headed to Illinois for a morning visit with my Uncle Wayne. Shot more video and we also flew his Carl Goldberg "Eaglet" for the first time since the early 1990's. Same radio, same engine, same friendly little airplane!
He's still a but skittish about test-flying his Ace "Sky Scout", and now that the corn is over six feet tall at the edge of our small field, we decided to hold off this time, and maybe head down to the little airport at Cairo for it's first flight.
Then packed up the B.O.T. and it's gear and headed to Stewardess Susie's new home in Missouri for an evening cook-out and fireworks-watching with buds Rory and Lori.
The wind was just right to risk a sailplane approach into Susie's back yard, so the Bird was recharged and sent on some perilous mission to record early-fired rockets and assorted explosions. Not much success, but DID manage to get a frame of Rory, flying his AR Drone in the back yard.
In my determination to record some fireworks footage, I flew the sailplane WAY past the safety level of my old eyes, and only got some distant flashes for my trouble!
In spite of the fast-failing light, I did mange to get the B.O.T. back down safely, scattering assorted bats on final approach...and so...another goofy adventure for the Video Files!

Yeah Ron!
Yep, the "A Team" is always out early !! Wasn't pretty 'till the Folgers kicked in though !!!!
Gonna try to do more of this early stuff...my Uncle's back yard faces the west and we ALWAYS get toasted in the afternoon sun.
It was a REAL luxury not having to stare into the sun when turning to land!

I love mornings Kim. Problem is I like to stay up late too. Early to be early to rise.........Makes a man get on the lines quicker!
The sun was rising right where the leeward side of wind was blowing so I was doing one eyed Popeye stunts this AM.
