Hadn't posted one of these in a while and so thought this might be interesting to some. As with the advice given to new flyers now, the article wraps with a plea to the newbee to PLEASE seek some guidance from an experienced modeler before launching his new pride and joy !

I've come to find that Cal Smith was a powerhouse in the hobby until his passing in the 1960's. A wildly active builder/designer, writer, photographer, and artist, he seems to be everywhere in my old magazines.

WOW! it had a 6 x 6 prop. Imagine trying to find one of those today...

Yeah that prop does seem small, perhaps the high pitch keeps the revs at bay.

also helped with a more "scale" appearance"... whereas Cox did such a nice job with all the other detailing. I'll bet a lot of consideration was given to that particular prop application.
