Tip: Green Goo Clogged Glow Head

Tip: Green Goo Clogged Glow Head
Have you ever had a head that was just completed gunked up around the glow element. Here's a trick I use and it seems to work every time. I hold it by the terminal by a pair of needle nose pliers with the head in the up-right position. I then use a small (or large) torch and heat up the head just enough to melt the goo. Soon it will puddle on the underside of the head and I wipe it with a paper towel. I find that it's a good and quick way to salvage a gunked up head.

A tip Pat might have to employ in order to use those REALLY gooped-up heads I sent him !!!!!!!!!!!

Yet another useful purpose for my favorite gun cleaning solvent.
Can you guess what it's called?

My method sounds slightly more, crude. I just put the glow clip on and hold the head over a paper towel. The old gunk comes right out. Wipe it off and done.

I also consider a dose of my favorite gun cleaning solvent a good tonic for my engines. Frees those little guys right up it does.

Well so far I haven't ran into anything terribly bad. But I am getting 4 engines in the mail today. We'll see how that goes!WingingIt74 wrote:Depends on how gunked up it is.G.O. The one in the Shrike last night was full with gunk and 3V wouldn't even melt it.

A clue:
I've made repeated raves about Hoppes #9 Gun Cleaning Solvent and it's cleaning qualities.
Did you not read or understand them?

I don't have any handy, so... I've never used it. Besides, a torch is fun... I like playing with fire
