gotta wonder if it's fuel-proof... imagine not having to wipe down your airplane!

I want that. I wonder when it hits the market.

Great for EP but considering the characteristics of nitro fuel don't you wonder.......?

It has already hit the market.  It's a frosted white color.  Looks quite interesting.... but... it's only temporary...

Saw it at Lowe's Home Center today... $19.00 It states that it dries to a milky white haze. Might be cool over a light/flat camo pattern... non-reflective... oil would just fly off.

You'll need to read that article I posted, a lot of good info there. Even in the comments too.

Travis:

So the product will stop salsa from pentrating a tortilla chip.

What does that say about it's ability to repell the effects of nitro fuel?

I'll admit that salsa can be pretty darn "hot" but nitro fuel and salsa have nothing common.

LASTING fuel proof protection can be gained by much less-expensive products like
Lustre-coat clear enamel.

As to the product mentioned I remain skeptical.  Things "too good to be true" often are.

Dave, I meant this...

Tragic Flaw

While it's only been a few days, it seems incredibly unlikely that the coating would last through any continued wear and tear. When we handled the dried, treated items, bits of white, superhydrophobic magic started flaking off after merely picking it up. We thought that it might just be an initial sloughing of excess skin, but it kept happening.

At the end of the session, the water bucket was coated with a fine layer of discarded NeverWet. Same goes for the salsa. And even the USB drive (the plastic of which is included in the materials best-suited to NeverWet) continued to shed off bits of white as easily as its other temporarily waterproof brethren. So while its water-repellent qualities may be a fun—nay, phenomenal party trick, don't expect it to last.

Yes I read that.

As long the user understands the caveat all will go well for use with nitro fuel.

I'm responsible for bringing up the questionable app for our hobby, not Travis... It was all in fun, but can you imagine if it actually worked? Rustoleum is just a big corporation with huge marketing ideas; that chose to cut a deal with the people developing the polymer. Given some time; you can bet that this polymer will be developed for hard coatings... and Rustoleum won't have any claim to it.

My thoughts exactly... It's a great start. R&D will go to town on it. My son is a manufacturing R&D chemist. I just sent him the link. He may already know about it.

If you haven't read the comments after the review, there are a couple of good laughs in it. I like the paintball vest exchange, among others.
