Simple sealing of Tee Dee carb fuel nipple against air ingress
This is just a simple solution I have found the most reliable to seal the rather short fuel nipple on any Tee Dee (010 through 051) against air ingress, that may lean your run and thus compromise engine performance and life. Many of you may have encountered a loose fuel line-to-nipple connection as the nipple on Tee Dee-s was designed to be relatively short and the fule line tends to let go the nipple sometimes during flight.
Once I purchased and used wire circlips to press the fule line to the nipple, but these did not prove reliable enough and the air ingress continued.
Then I simply pulled a piece of a bit larger dia silicone tube over the fuel line just where it covers the nipple. The outer tube acts like a cuff and is elastic enough to provide a lasting, air-tight grip for the inner tube on the nipple.
Note that I use the same silicone tube sealing on the needle-valve as well to make it air-tight as some loose needlevalves may also let unwanted false air in the carb.
Just in case some of you happens to have the same tightness problems.....

Thanks for the tip, Andras. I have a Cox NVA on a Norvel that has a wimpy barb. I use a wire as a twist tie to hold it on, but I might give this a try. Much easier to fix with greasy fingers.

Excellent
Anyone who has run one of the pressurised YS tank set up's will probably
be familiar with this on the many fuel tube joints.
Confirm it works very well.

this is actually a old trick and it does work very well, use your hemostats or a small needle nose pliers to spread open piece and insert fuel line, easy peasy.

I did not know that but it looks like I obviously invented the wheel again...sorry for that.

lol, well its like they say "if its a great idea, somebody's probably already thought of it" and this obviously is a great idea! It's always good to post ideas that might help someone.

Yes, it looks like at least 2 of the members (Rusty and John Goddard) have benefited a bit from it - let alone myself..(all my TD-s 010 thru 051 have been finally saved form lean runs in the future.)
