The Brodak Control Line World Magazine needs our help

Fred, I've attended Brodak's Fly In on several occasions. I've stayed the entire week and also have gone for a day. I live 5 hours from John's home. Attendance is not the reasoning for John not wanting to continue the Fly In over the next few years. This is a lot of work that most don't recognize and John and his wife Buzz are extremely occupied  months prior to the contest. Keep in mind that John is in his mid 70's and has also suffered a few health issues the past few years. John feeds everyone who attends on Friday of that week free of charge and  there's literally over a hundred people. That alone is an amazing feat in itself. I personally can't thank him enough for that as it really reminds me of my family gatherings. His wife Buzz is extremely busy throughout the day assisting the other women who provide all the refreshments at the lunch cart which is essentially going from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm.

John has to literally rebuild his entire side yard due to all the vehicles that park there. John's yard parks every attendee aside from the motor home and tractor trailer owners who park across the street.  All of this needs to be repaired and  from what I've witnessed appeared to take months  to fix. I can honestly say that I wouldn't have the patience to do it as long as he has already.

Everything today is computer orientated. The problem with publications is the cost of printing not to mention the postal charges. It all adds up. No one is getting rich by this and the magazine is really a labor of love between those who photograph and those who edit it. Having this magazine go online would certainly reduce costs. Unfortunately, many of the subscribers that read the magazine don't even use computers or use them very little. I personally like having a magazine to read in front of me. Finding content is just as much as a problem as not having enough subscribers. This takes a lot of effort to do.

Control Line World doesn't pay for publications. You own what you wrote but they will extend you one issue for every article that they do publish. Ken
