Combat Kitten plan wanted
Hi Guys
My old friend is looking for the plan for a combat kitten.
Is there someone that can help me with a scan of the plans?
I will really appreciate the help.

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
There is a half box of combat kittens at my parents house. It will be a while, hopefully before summer, that I can get up there and get tracings of the parts. Since the LE and TE are pre-shaped I will only be able to provide an image of the cross section and dimensions.
This has been a "back burner" project since the kit showed up. Originally it was packaged as a double kit. One was built out of the box.

Thank you Guys. Much appreciated!!
This is one I wanted to build for a very long time.
The older guys around here say it flew better than a Lil Satan. Got to try it.

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
Just pulled down my un-built Kitten double kit and checked
For a scratch build get the
Sig pre shaped LE that is listed as 1/2" x 3/8th inch
And the Sig 1/4" x 1 inch TE is the correct wing side thickness but width gets cut back to 7/16ths and at those dimensions is the correct TE profile
Each 36 inch long piece is only enough for one 21 inch wing span plane
The plywood items are 3/32nds
TE after the spar, center spar, and center ribs are on a 5/64th sheet
Rib sheet is 1/16th
Stabilator sheet and wing sheeting are also 1/16th
Nacelle and nose fairings are on 1/4" sheet

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
I got a couple of those kittens that has been up/down and all around can't remember last time I flew my but you will need to make sure the CG is correct , mine flyer was tail heavy and unflyable . I have mounted a wheel (single) up front but need to cover it again , maybe that's why one looks better than the other. Fred do your plans say were the CG is at ? getback

Eric, it's way up front, right at the back edge of the LE stick... spar, what do you call that LE anyway... .getback wrote:...Fred do your plans say were the CG is at ? getback

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
If you can use the plans Kim posted----- in the top right quadrant is a side view with the CG right at the back of the shaped LE but there is a NOTE
" For the experienced flyer balance model at the CG
For stunt training, the model should balance forward of the LE"

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
The Kitten is far too sensitive using the kit CG. Keep your handle spacing at 2" and use a larger control horn and place the pushrod in the furthest hole away from the hinge pivot. I would highly recommend getting rid of the wheel. It's going to want to make the plane drop on release not to mention make the plane hunt up and down. These planes require immediate horsepower, the more you have, the faster and better they fly. Note that the engine on the plans is a Holland Hornet. Not exactly a slouch in the power dept for the time period. Wings of this era can be a bit hairy on takeoff until speed gets up. If your handle is too large your just asking to compound the problem as it will be like mocking a roller coaster. Personally I would disregard the CG on the print as it's no good and I would suggest moving it back to the rear 7/8". This should place it very close to the first leadout exit and it will prevent the wild ride. Ken

Ken
I am setting up to build one of my two Kittens and think the 1/16th stabilator is too light/flimsy
What say yee?....one idea..fast... is to flood it in CA...OR just cut a new stab out of 3/32

While I wait on Ken or other Kitten builders....did I ever mention how MUCH I REALLY like Laser kits
punching out this old Top Flite die crushed kit has made more bad words in the last thirty min than all this year!

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
Fred, I'm not a Kitten builder, but I'd worry about tail weight with 3/32. Flooding with CA would work well. But what I would do is silkspan it with Minwax Polycrylic. I had excellent results stiffening the thin stab on my Li'l Satan and it looks nice and glassy after painting.

Re: Combat Kitten plan wanted
You are better off scratch building this than finding a NOS kit.
The kittens are the kit that convinced me that i'd never buy another top flight kit. Not only was the die cutting horrible, but the groove in the back of the leading edge was well off center, making it impossible to assemble to the front of the ribs as designed. I gave up and bought another little satan. The kid I'd gone halfsies on the kittens with saw the lil'satan, and swapped me a McCoy .35 for it. THAT was a deal! Wonder what became of him? If Ken Pauley (sp?) ever wanders past here, PM me!
