The muffler you picture there is highly desirable for control line use. It works. The stock muffler that comes with most of the 3303 versions is very poor and retains too much heat. The muffler you picture can have it's exit hole drilled way open and if heat still becomes an issue, the side butterfly can be opened. The holes under the butterfly can also be opened. A Enya that's hot is not happy. Ken

That muffler is different Ken and one of the things that attracted me to this engine. It's the first Enya muffler of this type that I have seen. It came with this early Enya .15II with nickel plated screws. The later mufflers did look much different being bulky and creating more drag.

But, check out that spray bar. Previous owner just broke it off or it was broken off and he just soldered the hole tight. I'm betting that without a metering system the crankcase would just flood and we would have a no go situtation. Sad

I was hopeing that when I took it apart I would find some high tech fuel metering system .... Smile

If it is done properly it is just a remote needle setup?
All you need is a remote needle...

I bet that is what the previous owner had it set up with is a remote needle. I used one from an Evolution .40/.46 engine, works perfect with my Testors McCoy .35 Red Head.

Bench testing:
Will it run - full out, as normal, or not at all.........? Dscf0515

Where old needle used to go, hole plugged with a 2-56 machine screw:
Will it run - full out, as normal, or not at all.........? Dscf0513

Mounted in my 42 in. (1067 mm) span Sterling Kit S1 Ringmaster:
Will it run - full out, as normal, or not at all.........? Ringma10

The remote needle performs flawlessly in flight, I am very happy with it. Since the Enya has no rear backplate mounting screws, would take a little imagination, may be a special bracket to mount, but is achievable.

That's a thought, remote needle. There are signs that the previous owner was quite handy, making his own muffler clamp etc..

I will probably just clean up the angled spray bar from this spare .09 NOS carburetor and use that. According to the parts list, the spraybars for the .09 and .15 are the same.

On second thought maybe not. This is only the second gen .15 with the slotted nickel plated screws and smaller overall size and it would not be correct for the era as the angled valves did not come out until later. It will probably never see fuel while I own it. Got a lot of .15's. Seems to be the most popular Enya outside of the .19's.

It was a mess when I got it though.

I imagine, Bob you probably already know about Bob Brooks AKA E-Bay's shtterman, Enya parts guru and on-line seller. There is an interesting conversation in Ken Enya's group Enjoy Enya Model Engine ! on Facebook, thread:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/242465062456546/909090245794021/

Bob is giving out a lot of good information on the status of the Enya company and its products in his replies.

That's a possibility Ron, the intakes are the same, just add a C/L NVA and venturi insert and your ready to go, Bob Brooks has both.

Will it run - full out, as normal, or not at all.........? Two_en10

or... Take George's suggustion and add a RNVA.  I wonder if this Evolution model would work on a .15.

BTW, I order parts direct from Bob rather than going through ebay, saves a bunch on shipping.  I have had no luck in ordering parts direct from Enya.  They just don't answer.  Bob tells me that he has over 1000 Enya's from vintage to new.

BTW again....I just picked up these early Red head Enya's, two .19's and a sandcast .29.

I was thinking what Ron said too. Not that you're in a hurry to run this one.. but it wouldn't be hard to make a thin "pizza-slice" shaped plate, drilled to fit on top of the inboard engine-lug. Drill a second set of holes to mount the remote NVA. If it seems too low in relation to the venturi.. then make an upward bent L-bracket to the height you want. Angling it back and outward 30-45 degrees should make the needle easy to adjust.. as well as safer. You could build a custom 90 degree bracket to suit a cowled-in app. It's nice to have options!

Since a number of you don't do Facebook, I have captured that conversation in Ken Enya's public Facebook Group, Enjoy Enya Model Engines !. You will find a PDF of that conversation in:
