.051 on ebay
For the second time in a week I have placed an opening bid of $34.99 on a Tee Dee .051 and won the auction as the sole bidder. Why is no one bidding on these engines? Am I paying to much? Are they undesirable?
Thank you, Jim.
Thank you, Jim.

??
I would bet a lot of people aren`t in the know yet about the available cox piston/cylinder combo`s availability, your getting them for average price, I got an 051 and an 049 recently for about the same.
Maybe its not having an attatched tank that makes these teedee`s lose their luster in some guys eyes and makes the bee engines a better choice in their eyes.
With all the new age micro radio equipment available, teedee power is more of a choice than necessity as it was was back in the day.
I was wondering the same when I was buying;but not complaining at all

Cool. I've never owned a Tee Dee; I am hoping they will have enough power for CL P-38 in the range of a 34 inch wingspan.

hoping........
I`m assuming cl is control line, which is ot my especiality, nor is the p-38.........even though I think i have 1 of them lol
If its the plane I`m thinking of, it may be enough , depending on your lines lengths. I never did a lot of cl, but my few cl planes were small and fast on 20' or so lines. I never flew the teedee cl, just peewee020`s and black wodow 049
So I`m hoping that an experienced cl guy jumps in here to clarify.
A teedee049/051 will fly that model in r/c form ok, but a 34" span dragging 30' of line may take some bunch of zip out of the teedee and it may not be very spirited, but there are a lot of variables in there too

Re: .051 on ebay
Not an experienced CL guy but I know the p38 is a twin engine twing fuselage arrangement some what like a double mustang.

Hey JPvelo,
It depends on the nature of you P-38. Is yours a profile or built-up model? Over the years, we've built "Psuedo Twins"...models of twin engine aircraft that had one engine somewhat "camouflaged" to give a twin appearance. I've seen 1/2A control line P-38's and P-63's with single engines mounted in the center pod's nose, with fake scale engines out on the wings.
If you're running two Tee Dee's on A 34" Airframe, it ought to fly with authority on 35 foot lines (or more). You should DEFINITELY log a bunch of time on a trainer type first though.
Just my thoughts.

p-38
Nope, thats not the 1 I have at all, I always did like the looks of these though. Odd looks, but in a cool way.
It would provide for much more drag tlan say a p-51 mustang would, which will lag the performance of 1 teedee, it my not be as spirited as you may or may not want it to be.
Not likely to be a sky scorcher at all.

How so?
Jaspur, you can always use a bigger engine. Of course you will be always sacrificing aerobatic ability and glide distance.
