Re: Atlantikwall buildings
Interesting bit of history Lieven.
I often think, what if the mad-man had put his talents into the advancement of man-kind rather than the destruction of it. What would the world be like today.

Bob, my grandfather would ask me this question. He would say name one thing that man invented that the earth ever benefited from. There's nothing that I know of that doesn't impact something else ecologically along it's path.

One major positive thing comes to mind Ken, and it happened in my life-time. I remember it as a kid. Jonas Salk developer of the polio vaccine. Polio feared by every family at the time.
But it is true, mankind has already sown the seeds of our demise. Years ago, Vietnam, race riots, Russia placing missles in Cuba, the arms race, I gave us about 150 years before we blew ourselves up. Today I have shortened that up considerably.
But there is an end.
Life on Earth has been surviving and thriving for over 4 billion years, but that's all going to change. The sun will heat up, boiling Earth's oceans, and eventually become a red giant. Many more catastrophic events will ensue, but Earth's ultimate end — falling into the sun's corpse — might not happen for 10^26 years.
