DC Dart tank
I didn't want to totally hijack the thread where we started talking about Cox pattern tank mounts.

Re: DC Dart tank
I am now on the search for the Bantam Deluxe! I am plowing through my old Aeromodellers looking for an advert.
I have a distinct feeling that this is an issue I have - I hate, loathe and detest the DC Bantam!
It was my first brand new engine - I saved up for the damn thing and it was crap!!!!! It wasn't as powerful as my clapped out Dart and first outing with it on control line - the crankshaft and crankcase bent on a gentle landing!
I have a mental block with the Bantam and I have probably skipped any references to it!
Thanks for finding the response. I do like learning new engine facts.

I like learning too, Ian. The world wide web makes it possible.

Re: DC Dart tank
It gets better.
So they actually sold them as spares for the Dart.

Ian, if you haven't already seen it, the engine test for the Bantam DeLuxe is in Aeromodeller August 1962, so adverts will be close by too.

I think DC must have had a few lemons, my Sabre (1.5cc) I used from new in the 80's was hard to start and too underpowered, but I found out recently that a CL prop should have been an 8x6 and not the usual 7x6. After a lot of running in it was a reasonable engine; sometimes a lot of running in is required, unlike Cox engines! My DC Bantam was fine, not as good as my Babe Bee, but at least it didn't run backwards (!), however it seemed to wear out quicker than i thought it should have done.
