Looks like a fat version of my wife's cat. Cats don't have owners, they have servants. (I just feed him, my wife gets the affection)

Look up "Bombay cat" it describes our cat perfectly, and we never knew it till someone made a similar comment.

Lol, she is not fat at all, skin and bones, just she has long hair that makes her look bigger. She is only 6 months old and I sneak her little pieces of meat when no one is looking, she might get fat!

I think you're a cat guy now Ron. You just needed the right cat. We've been very lucky with the kitties that we adopted. Three siblings that were captured feral as babies, five years ago. Two males and a female. There's an organization in Southern Rhode Island that works toward controlling the feral cat population by capturing/spade/neutering the animals. They try to place the kittens.. if they're not too old. The older they are, living in the wild; the less chance they'll adapt to a "pet" atmosphere. We recently adopted a fourth kitty. A female that I saw at the local pet store while on my way to buy cat-litter. A momentary lapse in sanity.. I told my wife about her when I returned home. She had to see the kitten.. so off we went in the car again, back to the pet store. After a few weeks, we were approved as an adopting family. She is a kitten.. with a wonderfully quirky personality. The integration couldn't have gone better. There seems to be more harmony with four, than there was with three.

All four are black.



Mice that dare to enter Roddie's house, don't last long. I often see the carnage.. A cat (including accomplice's) will sit attentive for hours, to starve-out the poor little critter. Dogs retrieve.. but cats hunt.. and they're skillful/cunning hunters.

You'll find Ron; that unlike a dog.. your kitty will amuse itself.. for days without any human intervention. You can leave a big bowl of dry food and water, a fresh-cleaned litter-box and go away for a weekend. The cat could give a s#!t less..    None of that separation-anxiety crap with a cat. When you return.. it's like you never left.

I have yet to meet a black cat with an unfriendly disposition. On the flip side, Barn cats(brownish/grayish, faint and black stripes) usually are more aloof and indifferent, if not downright bitchy.

Neutered males of all breeds generally are the most affectionate.

Our son's cats are visiting until he settles into his new home, a black male and a female barn cat, The Professor with one eye and Speckles fit those typical descriptions. We also have our own 20 y/o female barn cat, Tribble.

As a kitten, poor ol' Professor was mistakenly thought to be female till the doc began to spay him... oops, no girly parts. He got spayed and neutered in the same operation Lol. It would be funny if it was not.

I like cats. They're not as needy as dogs. I like dogs too, but they're more work, always needing to be looked after, getting into grossly offensive stinky stuff and needing companionship... usually just after getting stinky. A cat, just toss it outside and forget about it. It'll come back when it's hungry and then go back out. Ours have always been indoor/outdoor as they wish. On our one or two week long vacations, we just leave her outside and have a friend check the water and food. But now in the past year I think Tribble is too old for that. She seems healthy, but getting fragile. I'd hate for her to get into a fight at this late stage. She can't get onto the roof for safety anymore. She loves to hang out in the shop with me

Ha! Kittens, puppies and Cox engines (and sometimes old small-bore Honda motorcycles) are not something you just go and "see" without bringing at least one back most of the time
