He does good work. I have added grooves to a thick tapered cylinder. I see he calls the narrow neck crankcases leakers and normally doesn’t work on them.

Thats funny, maybe he'll send all the tapered cases to me?

It is curious. Almost all of people mix up anodizing with dyeing of aluminum.
First is a process that create a hard , stable and continuous layer of Al oxide on metal surface. It is transparent and reproduces finish condition of metal (polish or mate). Secound one dye aluminum with translucide colours due a dye introducing in surface porousity of anodized layer , followed with sealing of these porous in water bath at 100•C.
Thereoff if we want talk about put colour on a crankcase p.e. is better and correct make mention of dyening that can be made in a previous anodized part or not.

Other personal concern about aluminum buffing/polish is: anodic layer will be removed or not due, almost ever, an abrasive compound (arm & hammer, mother paste, buffing compund ...) is used to make surface shine or dry blasted to make surface matte. Then... we would be removing a prottetive previous condition to let our engines bright?

I think everybody in this group understand the anodizing process, the aluminum can't be dyed unless its anodized and almost all anodized aluminum is dyed, so for many it's one and the same. I'm sure the general public is ignorant of the process, just like they are of our toys.

Glad you got that info Fred , i had considered doing some anodizing at one time then after watching a few videos / and the room it will take up had to let the idea go , but it is very interesting . Mark are you still doing any ?
