Hi guys, I have not seen any good videos on Cox Tee Dee's "bench" .09 r / c with exhaust and accelerator camera, so I decided to make a video of my own and share it with you here.
This is another engine Cox excellent performance, even manages to go below the 5000 rpm indicated by the manual in position "idle", very satisfied and very comfortable with this beautiful engine Cox.

Note: You will notice that this particular engine has a pressurizer in the exhaust chamber, this was done in a personal way thanks to the advice of Mr. Brad. The result is in sight, it is perfect.

Thanks Mauricio great idle run. Infortunately the tachometer was not visible. What max rpm and prop size? Nitro%?

Thanks. Andras.

Hello András, thank you for leaving your comment!
The engine runs between 3500 and 14600 rpm
Use a Cox propeller hard plastic of 7 * 3.5
Fuel: N15 / R20 / M65

Well done Muaricio!!! You have a good runner I hope you find a good project for it!!!
Why so much revving?? Bad on the ball socket / piston to pin fit worse as you are using the big 7x3.5 prop.
Smooth power transitions will help maintain the fit and last longer, it is fun to rev the engine I will do it sometimes too. Smile

Best reading I saw was 14,857 rpm / 24oz thrust / 49 mph / 148w / .198hp

Hello Brad, I'm glad you like how the engine works, it's great.
I did not notice that detail of which you speak, that is to say of the load in the union of the piston and the connecting rod, from now on I will keep it very present. I accelerate the engine because it gives me great pleasure to see how it responds, it is incredible and it makes me happy, but I repeat, after your recommendation, I will take precaution.
If that's it, it's fun to speed it up! LOL
Thanks Brad! Hand Shake

Yes not so bad with the smaller lower weight props but the large gray 7" prop is
some load on the mechanical parts, wise to minimize the revving to just a few times
for fun. Surprised

Don't worry, the Cox 7x3.5 prop is a very nice prop that was made for their .09 engines. A larger prop load would instead risk over-heating and result in damage. Speeds of up to 19-20krpm are fine, in fact the power curve actually peaks right at around 20krpm:

Thanks for the advice Brad ....
Surely in the future I will create some model for this beautiful engine.
I read at Cox International, that 2000 units were produced from this engine, it's not a big number for what is the world of Cox fans, so I'm happy to have one and it works beautiful as well. Very Happy

Thank you Kris for this information, they leave me alone. It is interesting to note those who know these details as Brad and You Kris for example, so to both, thank you very much again. Tired w/ Coffee Read Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Yes they are rather rare, I have two of the RC versions and converted a Medallion
to a TD changing the crank, carb body and NV. The .09 has the displacement to
really do a good job of powering a over sized 1/2A plane or a dedicated design.
My first .09 RC was bought when they came out back in the 90's using a APC 6x3
(see pic this style) prop it was very fast with a 26" span plane. The ball socket
and crank pin to con rod fit is in excellent condition to this day. I ran on a pressure
tap back then too with a 2oz tank. It screamed like a TD .049 lol. A 5.5x4.5 prop would
have been better had I had them to use. It was my favorite .09 project followed by
the DART.

I look forward to seeing your project for it, truly a wonderful engine on pressure!

cheers Airplane cheers
Cox Tee Dee 09 R/C Throttle & Muffler 010

This is the converted Medallion, It came with a Cox throttle sleeve.
Kirn Kraft NV and bored venturi with a Ron Valentine turbo plug adapter and a high performance TD RC crank.

During flight testing in the field I noted:
Static 5.5x4.5 / 17.3k / 12.34oz / 74mph prior to launch
Unloaded 24,467  / 104.3 mph pitch speed was set rich for
more break in time in the air this is the first flight of the DART.
My first launch I had another prop on a MA 6x4  and had too
much down it flew out of the hand and slid on the wet grass
before I could get enough up elevator input. So actual first
flight was with the MA 5.5x4.5, it was sprinkling rain had to
end the day but happy I got to see my creation fly.
