That’s great fun! 1st place in your division, but you’re not rated? Why don’t ya go Pro?
It’s outdoors, fresh air, low impact, mildly arobic good exercise for an ole fart like me!

lol, same reason i'm not AMA anymore, i don't need it and i'm cheep!
I'll only hit 2-3 tourneys a year and it doesn't pay off (you get a discount for being a PDGA member, but cost is greater than saving, and i don't need the crappy mag....sound familiar?) i'd be about a 850 rated player if i was. It's cool that i can play without being a PDGA member unlike the AMA.

Your profile age still says 59 Mark. Don't age yourself faster than you need to.Mark Boesen wrote:crankbndr wrote:Nice trophy!! Congratulations !! But you just said I was a Geezer, and I have no reddie button!!

Low impact? Try a full power forehand driver...
I had to go down in disc weight (150g is much easier on the arm) in order to not hurt my elbow when I was playing dominantly forehand. Now I'm mainly backhand instead, except for tight window approaches, it's much easier to hit the right line when you can stare it down...
Congratulations Mark!

Re: my other hobby
Even at 64, I work out several times a week at Planet Fitness gym. (They opened a year ago, $11 US per month or €10.38.) Do 35 minutes cardio on the recumbent bike, now up to bench press 125 lbs (57 kg), row 135 lbs (61 kg), etc. Was prolific in fitness in my 40's and 50's, ran 2 miles, benched 200 lbs (91 kg), 7 years martial arts, etc. Some affects from aging aside, one can still maintain their fitness.
As hormones decline with age, find lifting essential. Two years ago was getting testosterone supplements because I was ultra low on the scale. Then we had a blizzard hit us, overnight, covered our 50 yard long mid yard fence.
Over the course of 4 days, I shoveled away snow from the concrete walkways and over our 14'x28' pool. When I saw the doctor a couple days later, the work had boosted my testosterone such that he halved the dose. Then I figured I needed to do rigorous exercise including weights to stimulate my body, hormones no longer required.

It's great to see others that play/played. I describe a drive to people like throwing a fastball and to modelers that the disc selection is like having pre-trimmed gliders with each trimmed to do a job. I do throw some Latitude 64 stuff, but mostly Innova, Discmania over there.

With a sense of humor, here's a singing act that shows you are never too old!
