Babe Bee running one way then the other??
Babe Bee running one way then the other??
I have an older Babe Bee that is running. However it starts and then after say 30 seconds starts running in the other direction then 30 seconds later starts in the other again all "on the fly". Is it cylinder problem or what? I put another copper gasket that improved but this is a bit strange? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Interesting, usually when they start it runs in whatever direction and if over compressed they start and then peter out or don’t start at all.
Are you sure it’s changing direction? Can you feel the prop wash change?
A video of what you are experiencing would be helpful.

Hey, make sure the prop is turning counter clockwise looking at the front of the engine. Mark

I am no help, but just to say I have had them do that many times. They have done it on the bench and during flight. I have also had them start without a battery connected. One spontaneous start was inside my desk during class. I think it was 7th grade. Talk about gettin the skunk eye from the teacher. I suspect a bad glow head or maybe a loose ball socket. Try a new glow head.

The prop could be ticking the starter spring and reversing if it's happening during a normal run. If it's flooded and running rich, wet, and slow, it can run backwards and then kickoff in the normal direction when it dries out and heats up.

Does it have a Tee Dee high comp head? When it reverses, has it been running at full running speed (leaned out), or ticking over slow & rich?

Hi
No it doesn't have the high comp head. I heard one suggestion about checking the read valve I'll do that. When it reversed it didn't have a spring starter so it wasn't that problem someone else mentioned. I'll check the read. I'll let all know what I find.
Thanks very much.

I cleaned the circlip holding the read valve it was a bit coroded. Blew all out with air compressor. The motor ran much better. Didn't change direction. Thanks for suggestion.
