I'd like to get some idea of what to expect to pay for an original complete Sterling Ringmaster S-1A kit. 42" span for .19 to .35 glow.
Currently one locally (AU) on ebay. No interest so far. Value???

original Sterling....zero $$ to me NOW  ----but in 2012 when I did not know better my e-bay one was $135 shipped and was a typical junk Sterling kit....

Pat Johnston Makes the best Ringmaster kits followed by PDK, then RSM...Mike Griffen is currently building and ultra light one on Stunt Hangar

That all said ---I still think any C/L Nostalgia build and fly should include at least one RingMaster with Fox 35 on it....no muffler

They average around $100 or so on Ebay. Swap meets about half that.

They have some value, just not a lot for reasons Fred explained.

The S1-A was designed by one of my club members Bob Klauss. Bob was the lead designer and manager of Sterling. The S1-A is less desired over the S-1. The S1-A has a sheeted leading edge. It doesn't mirror the exact wing profile of the S-1. Therefore, the model can't be used in some of the events in control line such as classic, old time stunt. It also uses a somewhat difficult to source leading edge in the event it becomes damaged as it's diamond shape.

While it appears that most base market value on EBAY, the true control liner is pretty darn frugal. There were over 200,000 of these kits produced. There's still plenty new in the box. The last S1-A I purchased in 1983 was $19.95. At the swap meets I attend, they're listed at $60-$70. While they're listed at this price, I have seen them go out the door at around $40. I have also seen them on EBAY sell from $78 -$116.

Old Engine GUY..ROD

I have a boxed up Pat Johnston 526* Ringmaster I will post to Aus for $50 plus actual ship charges ( I estimate $35 for the post)

*This is a slightly scaled up Ringmaster with Pat Johnstons special wing dimensions (better wing)

Recommended power is Evo 36*, TT 36, OS 40*, OS 46*

*also for sale reasonably priced for NIB CL versions
