Re: Non Cox .049s
I know Kim strapped his down with a metal tie to a board, can't find his thread though.
Re: Non Cox .049s
(These all need a clean, been in a box for 15+ years)
Wen-Mac hustler .049, quite a good engine
DC wasp .049 ,bought about 1990 ,ive never even started it , i have another one i have used.....too heavy and low on power
Enya .049 , from about 1989, another bad buy, heavy, hard to start, low power

Re: Non Cox .049s
Will you got a wasp too?
I have one and do not really like it do you want it for parts?
You can have it for free if you want
It has no compression,no NV

Unfortunately! , Could do with that engine for spares!
Re: Non Cox .049s
Will what kinda piston does yours have?
Oddly enough mine had a cox .049 piston in it.

Re: Non Cox .049s
Ive never taken piston out, but through the exhaust ports it looks like cast iron, not very shiny like a cox engine, i always presumed it was the same piston as a dc merlin

Re: Non Cox .049s
I wouldnt bother getting one , they are the same engine as the wasp with a radial mount tank on the back, later ones have gold anodising not red, they didnt seem to be very good ( maybe i was just unlucky )

Then that is probably why it has no compression.

I used to have a Wasp too, and despite peoples' opinions here, I wouldn't mind another some time.
Wilf
There was one on eBay 2 days ago but I cannot find it now.

Trouble is, on EBay ANY old British engine goes for totally silly money, I've watched a couple of Bantams but when they reach £30-odd I lose interest!
I had a Bantam way back when and used it in numerous models, not a racer but a decent slogging sport motor.

I really think DC should have suck to diesels!
