I could not wait any more until spring comes and decided to jazz up this ugly grey winter Saturday of mine with just another on-board flight vid shot with a key-chain camera fixed to the right wing of the Cosmic Wind. I am not fully satisfied with the fuel supply to the engine so there needs to be some adjustment done.

Good ole COX Tee Dee 09 with Kamtechnik turbo head and R/C carb plus exhaust muffler with silicon extender to reduce goo precipitation on fuselage and wing...near 16k rpm in air....sub-freezing ambient temperature....60/20/20 fuel (all-castor) ...APC 6.5x5 grey prop.

The black plastic fuel nipple - maybe the weakest component - of the COX R/C carb  can easily leak air into the carb, if its nut is not tight...and crack, if the nut is too tight. Anyways, back in my garage after the field video, I ran the 09 again after tightening that nut and the engine now runs stable near 15.6k even with the nose of the plane up (I have non-pressurized balloon tank in the plane)...a few days ago and with 5+ C warmer/thinner air in the garage the peak rpm was near 16k

Hi Andras, I liked your video, here it is about 35/38 degrees Celsius, and humid, that is very hot.
Yes, I agree on the carburetor's plastic socket, that is why I modify that, making them of metal and there really are no more problems, You can squeeze with absolute tranquility that nothing will deform or crack. I leave a photo about the self-made metal fuel intake:

Thanks Mauricio that is a nice metal nipple. I wish I could make one like that. I have a damaged Tarno carb with a similar size brass nipple on it that only needs to be drilled to fit the 09 spraybar diameter.

Those plastic inlets either leak because they're too loose or they crack.  Here's what I fabricated out of some thick wall tubing and wire.  It still leaked a little bit so I made some copper washers to seal the ends. Works like a charm now.

Mauricio's solution is probably easier.

By the way, great video! Too cold for me though. 50F is my cut off. My fingers hurt too much from getting smacked by a prop at low temperature, kind of like hitting a baseball when it's cold out. Then throw in a little fuel into the cut? YOUCH!!! Makes my eyes water just thinking about it.

Thank you. This is an antique Sterling model, with 34" wingspan and 25" length. It also flies powered with 049 TeeDee (I first powered it with that) but the 09 TeeDee is the best fit.

Thank you Eric. Yes apart from the plastic nipple the aluminum carb body is also a potential leak source. I removed the aluminum carb body and added the plumber's thin silicone film to both ends before putting it back and tightening the collet again. Lean run is one if not the highest jeopardy for an 09 for which cylinder and piston are near unobtainium.
