Scalpel Flight Video
Maidened my new Scalpel project today. Here's a clip of the 3rd flight. The first couple were spent trimming it out and resolving some minor fuel line issues. It's powered by one of the rare Mangusta DR .049 rear rotary induction engines built by Tim Wiltse. I got the engine from him several years ago and have been waiting for a suitable airplane to install it on. The Scalpel was built from a "pre-production" kit sent to me by Steve Adams of Select Hobbies. It uses original ACE tapered foam wings and is inspired by their old Simple 400 kit. Hopefully Steve will have the kit on the market soon for all of you to buy, build, and fly. It's a great flying airplane and I'm very happy with it so far.
This run starts off a tad rich and soon leans out a bit for a nice run thru the 1oz tank. The engine is still breaking in but getting better with each run. In this vid it was running an APC 5x3 prop.

Re: Scalpel Flight Video
Beautiful flying. That Mangusta revs pretty high once it's in the air. She's a snappy little performer. So are the others I watched on your channel.
