Cox Engine of The Month
The queen bee we never got

The queen bee we never got
I was looking at the 1987 cox catalog and came across this strange queen bee. It looks to me like a prototype. The index for the cast muffler is the crankcase itself, with a black plastic carburetor typical of QBs, however the needle valve is sticking through the throttle arm it has a red spinner and a slightly different crankcase.
Seems like normal things for a prototype.
When i started looking at the model numbers, the catalog says the original QB can come in a beam mount OR RADIAL MOUNT
There also seems to be a model you could order without a carb- a Venturi model.
What’s the deal with the prototype? Anyone got more info?
Does anyone know what’s up with the radial mount and the Venturi model we never got???

That sounds along the lines of the Sportsman .15,
rear induction reedie.
As far as the radial/beam mounting option, that must have
been impossibly heavy(as if it wasn't heavy enough).

Yeah it does sound like the sportsman... strange that the Venturi model never came to fruition though. Also how the heck would a radial mount even work on this engine in the first place...?
Happy new year to you too!
