Lack of power

Lack of power
Hi people, I'm new around here.
Any advices on Norvel 0.049 RC performance?
I can't get more than 10.000 rpm with a 6x3 prop.
I've being thinking on making a tuned pipe but...... it can be so difficult.
I'm using 30% nitro fuel and a normal to cold glow plug.
Could it be compression? timing? fuel availability? I'm very closo to give up.
How to correct findings?
Thanks in advance to anyone

Re: Lack of power
First: WELCOME TO THE FORUM!
Second: there are a number of members who have run the Norvel, Aka: NV or AME engines. I bought a couple of em when there was a good deal on e-bay, but just haven’t had the need to get em out and run them. One of our experienced runners of Norvels recently past away, RIP Rusty, so I never Took him up on his offer to get his advise on how to properly break in a new NV engine. From what I’ve read it’s best to heat up the head with a heat gun/hair dryer to expand the cylinder head to help eliminate the pinch at TDC during break in. I assume that you’d have to run it “rich” to help lube the friction between the head and cylinder during the break in period.
I hate to tell a new member to just go “search” for an answer, but there is a lot of info floating out in the threads:

I hope someone with hands on experience pops in and fills in the blanks!

Re: Lack of power
Tink new parts exist norvel back in buisnes if the engine is used its posible its life finish norvel engine Good for like 70 hour on the engine label it say 60 tink its not cox engine wil Not last as long posible trouble wit compression as the norvel engines is very simple desing if using the carb pay attention To that parts opening hard To se inside Behind the screen posible Not fuly open try very ritch fuel is the engine run very hot ? Posible crank casse leak on the chaft To its ventury tool scratch in the crankcase at the Intake port can reduce rpm lots of rpm

Re: Lack of power
As others have alluded to it is quite possible to ruin a Norvel by hand flipping a cold engine before proper break in. It’s also possible that it was bad from the factory.
6x3 is also too much prop.

Re: Lack of power
Which version do you have and which glow head are you using?
A normal glow plug will always reduce the power substantially in these engines...
The APC 5x3 prop or the APC 5.7x3 are better suited to the engine.
