Hello,

I've seen for sale this engine. I cannot say if it's a .049 or .020

With such a postage stamp backplate, it's a 049

Didn’t Mark Boesen just post a picture of the first run of the Green Stuka with the yellow handle on a brass needle valve?

I have a similar one, it’s been a few years and I don’t remember details but I do remember I somehow figured it’s a Stuka engine. Mine’s an early one without the starter spring groove on the cylinder base.

Yes these are the Stuka engines.

I have several of them including the first ever COX engine I got in 1974..They take turns in the nose of my Quickie100 and with a No. 1 cylinder and Kamtechnik turbo head they swing the prop well above 20k. My all-time favorite 049 reedies. I devised a DIY exhaust throttle for those with thin wall cylinder that does not fit the standard throttle ring sold by Bernie and Matt.

Rod, only 2 are genuine, the rest are 3D printed from Jason..these need to be soaked in hot water before use like old nylon props otherwise may be a bit brittle and crack soon.

Is this plane a Quickie 100 Shocked or Quickie 200 ?

Definitely an early Stuka needle valve, they were quickly changed to all brass for reasons I can't remember. Seems like they didn't work well so were changed.
Unsure if they were used on other models at the time.
