I was cleaning up the basement and came across a new Skyray. The receipt was in the box and I purchased this in 1980 from AHC for $6. Seeing the box was open and some minor parts were missing, I only thought it to be the proper thing to assemble this kit. Somewhere I came across the decal sheet as it wasn't in the box. I remember seeing the decal sheet wondering how I ever had a extra because I always used them. So I assembled and out to the cold all week to get some dope coats on it. Once again, the temps are proving problematic. The color is my go to Brodak Rocket Blue and Polar Gray. Sig LiteCoat for a top coat. I'm not a fan of the triangular cheek blocks so I made my own .

Still Have mine, orange dope decals long ago sloughed off....young and was not bright enough to seal them down

Have a more recent Sig kit that I got happy on with the grain filler and lots of dope...flys ok but had to radial mount a tee dee as it is a true porker

My dad showed up recently with a new in the box Black Widow. I couldn't resist so the engine came out of the box and I gave it a few runs. This was the first version of the plastic backplates. I have to say I never had any Black Widows run as good as those years. Longevity wasn't there, but they do run strong. I always had the rods poke a hole through the piston top on these.

I love that vintage stuff and the stories that surround them.

Should be more told here. Lord knows I have shared many of mine. Smile
