New Shrike Empty New Shrike

Post  Rich G. Sat Feb 25, 2023 4:47 pm

Recently picked up a Shrike on E-Bay. Normally I fly control line, how do I hook up the Shrike to run in a circle, how do I bridle it and how long should the tether line be?

TIA

Welcome aboard Rich! I'm not a tether car guy, but if you check the left column on the home page, you'll see an Info section that includes instructions and manuals for Cox and a few other brand engines etc., I saw an instruction manual for a Shrike that has the basic info on attaching the car to a tether, once others here come across your post I'm confident they will have more specific suggestions for you. Very Happy

Find a piece of string about 10 inches long, tie it to the Shrikes attachment points.  Tie another piece of string with a handle on it loosely to the attached string, hang the Shrike vertically moving the string finding the Shrikes center of gravity (when it hangs perpendicular (parallel) to the floor) and tie the knot.  Trace the angle on a piece of paper and bend a coat hanger to shape to make a bridle.

Or just use heavy waxed string, or parachute cord and use that.  Or you can go all crazy and put a couple of collets on the flat of the coat hangar and position the lead off that.  What you want is to find the CG.

Sorry, had to use a drawing, can't find my string hanger.

Thanks for the quick reply, a pic is worth a 1,000 words. Searched but could not find the info manual, Hate to pay 10.00 to some guy on e-bay for a copy of the instructions.
