Hello everybody, My name is Charles, and I have an addiction!  Smile

I keep buying batches of grimy, unloved Cox motors, to bring back to life.
Latest lot arrived yesterday.   This is after gentle spray and external cleaning with Ballistol and some soft rags.

Cox Addiction Img_0410

its a fierce addiction, yet fiercely rewarding.
At some point - I should sell off some of the motors, to refinance

Anyhow,   its better than loose wimmen, booze and dancing.  Smile

Charles, I love the looks of the Babe Bee converted into a longer flight runner with the Kavan Tank Extension, a tad bit longer flight than the 8 cc tank Golden Bee. Also you scored with the Tee Dee and parts Tee Dee, kudos. cheers sunny Very Happy

Eye candy Charles for you, me, and all of us - Give me your tired, dirty, yearning to breath free engines.

Magnificent Obsession it may well be.

Just promise you're gonna put those engines into service and not into some glass display case! Breaks my heart to see "collections" of things when there are some of us out there still building planes and shopping for these motors

As far as what one does with their engines once they become their property, this is of course their perogative. But, it sort of reminds me of when I saw the first model airplane take flight, free of its own, a majestic sight to behold. I was 10 or 11 at the time.

Aircraft have always fascinated me. I am of the school that I enjoy seeing an aircraft take flight even if it is not 100% authentic (for example, pre-1956 Cox engines using new cylinders, piston and head or sporting an aftermarket throttle). I look at that and say, "that engine still lives and and is living proof of its legacy." Very Happy

@Droobie , Welcome to the forum! This Site Rocks! Could you share a little bit of yourself in the Introductions Section? If nothing else, maybe a model airplane war story? Very Happy

No apologies necessary, we are family here. It's the old "Different strokes for different folks" thing.

Some 70+ years ago and for many years thereafter I had my time in the circle, then for me, it became less fun. Didn't diminish my love for the sport though.

Post pictures when you can.

Thanks Levent, actually the idea was conceived in a pre-Xmas conspiration between my wife and daughter, and I do not know where they found the thumbnail graphics...maybe on the net? The rest was just finding a company making customized cases for Samsung mobile phones...

I try to learn something new every day.   Someone once told me, that was a good key to not becoming a doddering old senile fool.   Well, that and cutting back drastically on the bourbon

I'm a HUGE fan of Ballistol as a cleaner and rust preventative.
https://ballistol.com/

Well, some feller on the interwebs suggested getting an old tin box,  any kind really, as long as it has a lid.
cutting up rags, putting them IN the tin box, which you have properly labelled.  then filling it with your favorite oil
i cut old t shirts and some microfiber towels,  they are layered in the box, doused with Ballistol.

So now I have a smallish square tin box that once held christmas cookies or something
NOT the Royal Dansk round butter cookies box,  we all know those are for sewing supplies and childhood disappointment (not cookies, needles and thread)

Awesome to open box, and rub down engine to remove external castor, dirt, and leave protective film.

I learned something new, and maybe pass on to all ya'll.
Also I need to take a pic of the motor after run, after heat, after wipedown.  looks even cleaner
