Use the proportions and fuse/tail constuction of the Ugly Stic plans with the constant chord Ace blanks and it is even easier. May have yo scale it down a bit to match the span of the blanks.

Sorry I have not been able to post. I am in the marching band and had to play at football game. I am very capable of building and can handle most things. I have built six full size planes, 5 small guillows kits and 1 1/2a kit. I am currently building the Pete-n-poke. So building is not an issue. I have also seen the LST trainer on RCU. I believe it was designed as a tribute to someone. Not sure who.

If you are interested in a stick type of plane then the DNU from selecthobbies.com could be a good choice. It is a simple, light, inexpensive laser cut kit that comes with plans. It does not have instructions though. It could be a good airframe for your reed valve engine. I think RCU might have several build threads on it. What ever you choose keep us posted and good luck.

Pv Pilot,

Thank you for the pic and bringing up Funaero. I had long since forgotten about them. I just checked out their website and found that they have some pretty cool looking little planes.

Thank you,

Bob

It was designed by Andrew Donatelli in memory of Lynn Sipes. It's called the LST or Lynn Sipes Trainer.

What do you play? I loved marching band... Trombone, baritone and finally Souzaphone were my instruments, except one game with a double-bell uphonium that I found hiding in storage under the stage for about 40 years

I play trumpet. I would rather play the sousaphone/tuba but the director is worried about what the weight will do to my shoulder. I am 5 foot 4 inches, 16 years old and I only weigh 100lbs. He also doesn't want me to change because I am finally getting good at trumpet and he thinks I will get first chair my Junior and Senior year. Most of the trumpets in the band are new and are very bad. So they need guidance which is given by our current senior. When he graduates I guess it will be up to me. Sad My older brother played the trombone. My sister the flute.

Who's Jack and when did he arrive? Wink

Yep... I was just under 6' and about 215 at your age so it was not a big issue, but they do get heavy, especially in uniform on a hot day in a parade. We were fortunate enough to go to the Rose Parade one year. The Souzaphone was a lot of fun and we got to do some neat stuff thanks to a creative instructor.... Like release gallons from the bell when we played the song Tiny Bubbles...

OK, we now return you to your regularly scheduled programming....

Hey Pv Pilot, do you think that the SuperJake could fly with a high end .049 that has a throttle to idle it down or stall the motor? Please keep me updated on that plane build and its total flying weight.

I don't see any problem with a throttlable .049. The overall build should be VERY light and that should stay at the very front of the thought process as you go with any build-up model. So far all the pieces are lazer cut very well and the structure buildup is light weight to this point. Kinda interesting as to how they reinforced the tail area, which makes it very light back there, but strong. I'll probably start another thread on the Super Jake once I get a little further along.

FWIW and to all who are reading, FunAero is just a couple of folks who do this on the side,,after they get done with there regular jobs. I had ordered there 34" Tommy Boy tail dragger also, but it is unavailable due to a problem with the assembly instructions.

I dont believe it is a hijack if the starter of the thread does it.
like a ship is not hijacked if it is done by the crew and captain it simply changes course.

They are also selling the banana .049 again.
My thing was having a throttled .010 model to fly in the park.

Hellooo,

Have you checked out the Clancy Aviation series? They have a "Bee" for just about everyone... I'm scratch building a "LadyBug" bee with my son later this month... 049 powered park slow flyer...

saw some funny vids of an english chap tryin' to land a LazyBee without bouncing, on youtube...

Clancy aviation was sold to another company who have now discontinued the kits. Sad another blow to the aeromodelling community Sad I want to build a lazy bee.

the plans are available on a pdf or zip for free... plus you would save oodles if you cut your own kit..

I scratched a PT Ringmaster recently and had enough wood for three more fuselages and tail feather sets. $13.00 worth of balsa makes four planes... Huh...
