All day Control line fun!

All day Control line fun!
Thanks to Ken Cook who put me in touch with the Tulsa Gluedobbers who put me in touch with local CL fliers.....I was able to spend an entire day learning and flying. It was heaven. Of course everyone had .35 sized + planes I was still able to represent the CEF with my Baby Clown and Jumpin Bean.
Did I crash? You betcha, but now I know why. I met a bunch of great people and now have a big field in which to fly my Ringmaster.
I also saw one cool collection of engines and vintage CL kits! I also was gifted a whole box of Cox engines No I haven't taken possession yet!
All in all it was a great day! Thanks Ken.
Ron

Re: All day Control line fun!
I wondered what you'd been up to all day.
So did you get enough flight time even though you crashed? Tell us what you learned. Maybe it's something I don't know yet.
I'm going flying tomorrow. And nobody can stop me. My wife is at the beach with her girlfriends.

I crashed the Bean, outside loop. Trying to show off my skills. I was pretty embarrased
I learned to do that manouver much higher and follow through. I also learned to do all my stunts in different areas of the circle depending on the wind. How to hold my handle etc. Some of it I knew and most of it you already know Rusty.
I also learned a lot of info pertaining to .35 sized models.
Have fun tomorrow Rusty! When the cat's away..........

You bet I did! And also Joe Gilbert. All fine fellers and very helpful. Thanks for putting me in touch Ken!
De and Joe drove all the way in from Tulsa. I'd love to hang with the Philly Fliers for a day Ken!

Yeah, knowing where the wind is coming from is at the top of the important things to know list. I try to feel it on my back when I'm turning a circle so I know when it's pushing the plane out. Sometimes I use a crepe paper streamer on a dowel stuck in the ground. Trouble is, at my field, the ground wind isn't always blowing in the same direction as the wind near the treetop height. I still don't know how to hold my handle, but I'm not about to change it now.cribbs74 wrote:...I also learned to do all my stunts in different areas of the circle depending on the wind. I was holding it properly, just learned to tilt my wrist when inverted. A lot of good fliers hold the handle like you Rusty.

Sorry John, 61 degrees and 5mph winds. Don't worry though as summer is fast approaching where it will be bone dry, wildfires and 100 degree days.
