What I got in the mail today...

What I got in the mail today...
...is an early RR-1! Before anyone says it, I know the cylinder is wrong. It actually came with a repro tee dee cylinder on it with a working w filament head on top. I took both off to save and put a #1 and standard glow head on. Cleaned it all up inside and out. If weather permits, I'll run it tomorrow.

Are the vent tubes in the backplate drilled out?

Left side isn't. The right side one(that is sitting from the pilot seat) is.Jason_WI wrote:Are the vent tubes in the backplate drilled out?

Re: What I got in the mail today...
I don't think its that uncommon to find only one vent drilled. I have one and have heard of others, but don't know why?
p.s.
G.O., remember if you're going to completely restore it to original, you got to change the glowhead as well.

What glow head do I need?Mark Boesen wrote:I don't think its that uncommon to find only one vent drilled. I have one and have heard of others, but don't know why?

Edit: answered my own question. A 302-1 head right? I have one. For some reason I got the one on it mixed up thinking it was the older one. I'll change that out right away.

If you are not already a member Marks website .049 Collectors Group is a great source for Cox and other .049s info. Many photos and notes, I use it often.G.O. And I never thanked him, thanks Mark!

As promised.
Sorry for the length. My phone was dying so I made it quick. I'll get a better video this weekend.

Yeah I've been checking it out. I've already learnt a couple things!
And yes that's what I thought. I changed it out before I ran it. Now just gotta find me one of those impossible to find early unmarked dual bypass cylinders.
