Thinking TD 051 pressure backplates

Post  tony shep Sun Feb 02, 2014 10:16 am

Hi folks

I'm a newby to the forum - Tony Shepherd, signing in from Portsmouth UK.

I do a lot of free flight contest flying but my use of Cox engines has been limited to a dieselised TD051 in a contest class which mandates diesels below .052cuins. I used one for a while in a Top Banana but it had just too much grunt for the airframe and I went back to a PAW55.

Following a change in the BMFA rules for free flight comps in 2014, I've now decided to have a go at 1/2A duration and I've dragged out my two TD051's that I'd set aside for conversion to diesel but never got that far. I've already converted them to Nelson heads and plugs and Kustom Kraftsmanship NVAs. Now the next job is to run them on pressure and I've read in many places (including this forum) that a backplate with a pressure nipple is better than bleeding it off the plastic pipe as moulded in by Cox.  So the question is, where can I get the back plates from?

Cheers - Tony

Tony:

I have two used pressure-tapped TD .049-.051 backplates in good condition avaiable.  I got them from Paul Gibeault (Alberta, Canada) several years ago but have never used them due to declining helth issues.

I'd sell the pair for $20 plus postage from the US.  They'd fit very nicely into a small padded shipping envelope.

Please advise via PM if interested.

Thanks Dave, that's really kind.  I've sent my contact details via a private posting to you.  Paypal or cash? - the former is safer if you have an account.
