Crank:

It might interest you to know that Leonardo DaVinci disproved the idea of perpetual motion by in the fifteneeth century though many have tried to prove him wrong.

Leonardo DaVinci was the brightest mind of the Renaissance one of the most innovative periods of human history.  Contemporaries were Copernicus, Raphael and a much younger Michaelangelo a much younger rival whom he enjoyed baitig and insulting - Michelangelo.

Leonardo (1452-1519)was fascianted with flight and it lead to many inventions in that field but also included mechanics, hydrailics, war and art.

We owe Michaelangelo much.  I attended an exhibition of Leonardo 's work at the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field in Seattle in October of 2006.

I'll never forget it.
