Reed Speed 2.0 qualifying photos
All right gents, post photos of your finished models here by midnite Oct 30 to qualify. Get video to me by Nov. 30 via private message.
Video instructions can be found here:
https://www.coxengineforum.com/t5898-cef-profile-scale-reed-speed-rules
A note on videos from the judges. Try and hold the camera as still as possible, better yet use a tripod. Trying to follow the model by moving the camera makes it difficult to judge and has been shown to cause mild nausea in some judges.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Looks fantastic Jim. If it fly's half as good as it looks then you should do well.

Did the nitro eat the paint?

Nitro is eating the paint, and graceful landings aren't its strong suit. The top wing could use a little fiberglass at the mount for flight number four.

Can you get it in a spray can? I see that it is able to be brushed on.

Re: Reed Speed 2.0 qualifying photos
Ok,
It's not 100% finished, but it'll have to do as I am about to hit the road. In case it's not obvious it's a clipped wing Shoestring. Roddie supplied me with the templates and I embellished a little.

Thanks Rusty
I took some serious time to finish this model. It is the first plane I have made that is so smooth.
Cribbs, that is also a really beautiful plane. I like the nose job!

Wow Jim
That plane looks FAST!!!
I would like to see some more detailed pics to see what you did.
That engine looks like it is going to turn that prop really fast. Is it a space hopper? I only know normal cox reed engines and Tee Dee's.

Re: Reed Speed 2.0 qualifying photos
Theo,
Thank you. Yes that's a space hopper. I hope it turns the prop fast, I haven't run it yet so we'll see. It's only a mock up without a piston right now. If I get off work early today I will pick up some proper mounting hard wear at the hobby shop and play around with it some. I'll post rpm numbers on a separate thread.
The only unique thing I did with this one is to copy the fresh air intake of my staggerwing. I am very pleased with that airplanes performance, I just need to figure out how to keep it in one piece when it lands!
Here's a photo of the intake:
That's a air scoop on the inboard side that directs air to the plenum, the hoppers intake fits snugly into the plenum.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the entries!
Jim
