Re: Reed Speed 2.0 qualifying photos
That is a great design Jim. Nice thinking. Both your planes are going to be really fast.
Cannot wait to see the numbers you get.
I am also a bit worried of getting my Nemesis to stop. I hope it does not disintegrate on landing.
I do not have the resources you guys have with regards to spare parts, so it is not easy for me to change stuff to get the best results. The best runner Black Widow I have is approximately 17,500rpm with a APC 5.7/3 prop. That will have to do.

Jim, who's making the carbon landing gear? I have a 1/2A proto with very lightweight aluminum that eventually failed and I'm looking for a replacement. This may or may not be an option. Ken

I don't know about carbon, but you can get a stronger custom made aluminum set here: http://www.tntlandinggear.com/custom_gear.htm

Ken,
It's from Eliminator Props, the same place I purchased the carbon strut for my mongoose.

Man, that Air Tractor is COOL! Love the intake and the overall design. Again, a very simple and functional design. It really looks like it's going to be a mover!
I'm not really familiar with the various "hopper" type Cox engines, but that really looks like it might be the ticket for Reedspeed. It sure would have made the nose on the Mustang a WHOLE lot easier that having fit a typical reedy backplate in there.
My Bearcat is done, but still needs clearcoat. I'm going to put it all together tonight and get pics posted so I'll at least be qualified, but I'm out of town for three weekends in November so getting an actual flight in might be tough.
That is another great airplane Jim!

Here it comes, flying VERY low so it will flash past just under the deadline...
Here's my Conquest Bearcat. Still needs a clear coat of some sort, but other than that it's ready to go!
Tom Selleck in the background, there. He seems to approve...
Rounding pylon 4...

Mark’s Reed Speed 2.0 entry
Well, I’ve been so busy messing with other projects that this has been sitting in the corner for the last few months. Since the deadline for photos is upon us, I didn’t have time to do any finishing on it. I just shot a couple of coats of paint and threw it together. So, here it is.
As you can see, the plane more than meets the length/wingspan requirements. I love the shape of the full size GP-4, and didn’t want to adulterate the wing plan for this model, so I sized everything to meet the 45 sq.in. rule. Right at 12.75 inches length driveplate back, and almost 16.5 inches for wingspan.
I liked the way my single thread hinge per side came out, so I’m showing a picture of that as a curiosity.
I was going to try and use a Babe Bee engine to power this, but since I’m going to have to start this myself and stooge launch it, I didn’t think 5cc would be enough to start the plane, run out to the handle, and then get in 10 solid laps. So I went for an 8cc tank just in case. It’s not like I think I can win or anything… Also, I think this plane is going to make a much better transition to PeeWee power after the official flights than my previous Reed Speed plane did.

Mike! Impressive! I'm amazed at the detail work. Should be a contender for sure.

Alright gentleman that makes ten. Videos need to be sent to me by midnite Nov. 30th. Pleas review the video format here:

The judges have asked that the camera be held as stationary as possible, please don't try and follow the model in flight by moving the camera. Please feel free to ask any questions on this thread or via private message.
GOOD LUCK!!!
