The first thing to do is find some castings.

Make sure that they are appropriate and a suitable size.

Machine off the casting slag (very dirty job), drill a few holes and sandblast.

You could also use it for other things

I wouldn't say talented - I am just fortunate to have the machinery to do this.

It was roughed out - castings smoothed for accurate placement and levelling on this. Any drilling was also performed on this little workhorse.

It doesn't take long but the cuts have to be quite deep to penetrate the dross.

Then finished on this

using a variety of programs to do the donkey work.

The final finish is files, emery cloth and followed by mild grit blasting to texture the finish and disguise any blemishes.
