This guy must of had a major collection, he's been selling for a number of years...

Thought i'd post this as it's become somewhat rare, an early NIB Babe Bee:

That's a nice one.

I have a soft spot for the early ones. I never use the ones I have. I tend to rely on the 70's versions to haul the kids trainers around.

My first Babe Bee came that way. The bubble packs were connected, about 10 on a row. You would just rip off the bottom one (no, not steal) and buy it.

The first impression was how easy they were to mount. The Space bug, Space bug Jr., and the Thermal Hopper all needed a hole drilled for the intake. The thermal Hopper required that you remove the intake and needle assembly to mount it directly to the firewall. Then you would reinstall the needle assembly and intake nut. What a PITA...but it ran VERY well.

My second impression was how well the Babe Bee ran!

I like the early narrow-neck, short tank no-nonsense look too.

How much was it?

It's still better then if you took that $3.95 and put it in the bank! I think I bid $40, which I knew it wouldn't sell for, but thought whatdahey!

Does anyone have an idea how old that Babe Bee is? What years did they use that packaging? That one appears to be in great shape. Andy

How happy we all would be today just to walk in a hobbyshop on the corner and rip off any COX engine from a stand on which these bubble pack gems once stood....

I got mine in the early 70-s in Hungary from an aunt Catholic nun) who emigrated from Budapest to Buffalo and sent me one in a similar bubble pack...man, I really wept to learn when I opened the pack that the glowhead was blown...I had to ask someone to drill a hole to accommodate a standard plug in the head because there was no way i could get a replacement COX head those years in my place...
