Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
It may not be a celebration in the UK but I do realise that events like these promote a reflection on past times, bring back memories and emphasise life changing events.
May all your thoughts and memories be pleasant. Make the most of what you have.
Best wishes for your special day.

Re: Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving , All. I’m thankful to be here, both on the Forum and on the planet. Like many on here, I’m at that age when my wife and I are both going through the health issues thing, but we’ve both survived them. This Group has been wonderful for keeping me engaged when things get pretty bad. I have a garage wall full of reminders that there’s more to do than just sit in a chair and feel bad for myself or my wife. Building is a good coping method, and the guys on this forum that encourage me to keep busy helps out a lot. In fact, the CEF is my homepage on my computer.
This is the first Thanksgiving for my wife and I to be alone together. My mother passed, my wife’s mother in long term care, and the son on the other coast. But we make do. Others have had it worse, like Bob. Best wishes to you Bob. I hope you can find the best to look back on when you feel down. I’m also dreading when/if I find myself alone on that first holiday.
Rod and Ian, feel free to celebrate with us. Rules are simple. 1) eat, 2) eat, 3) eat some more. Maybe try to get time off from work to celebrate the Holiday. Didn’t work for me. I put in for a Holiday day off on November 5th, but my boss had no idea who Guy Fawkes was.
Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

My thanks to all that have it in your hearts to remember my special loss. I know that I am not alone in this regard. Many of us here have suffered losses of loved ones dear to them and somehow can keep deep feelings within. I tend to keep mine on my sleeve and appreciate that you all have been gracious enough to allow me to do so. It's not something that I share with any other group.
I hope that everyone had the happiest of Thanksgivings with those that you love and that love you.
Bob

Mark. Happy to do my bit, but I know I'll regret too much indulgence. I can be thankful for food without having to eat it all. Weight has been a struggle all my life.
My wife has just left for a week-long bicycle ride, clocking up around 800 km. (500 miles). She does it each year and I traditionally take the week off work, originally to keep organized for school runs and meals etc, but with only one son now living at home and working it's a little simpler. I'll be trying to get a few odd jobs done around here, but expect that on her return I'll be well scrutinized, including a threat to weigh me. Hey, maybe I can use Thanksgiving as an excuse for my excesses! Nah, she won't buy it.
And yes, I do know who Guy Fawkes was. Local council won't even allow us to have a bonfire without buying a permit, let alone get hold of any fireworks. November 5th was always a highlight when I was young, and I still have all my fingers & toes.
