Model for my Medallion .09

I just managed to get a muffler for my Medallion .09 from Bastiaan (Mr Cox) so I've dug my old Mercury Viper out, it has an OS 10 in it at the moment, but I'm going to swap the .09 into it, be interesting to see what, if any, difference it makes to the performance.
The Cox is considerably lighter, so unless I have to add ballast to correct the CG when I install it, it should fly a little faster.
All I will need then is some weather that allows me to fly it, and that could be a long time coming!

The cox tee dee .09 is as good as the average .15 so I imagine the medallion is also a great engine.

They call the Medallion a "Sport" engine, but I think it's probably faster that the OS that's in it now, and that model is pretty quick with the OS, I hope it isn't approaching .15 power or the model is going to be VERY overpowered!

The Medallion is nice engine. OS makes very good engines. I am pretty sure that it may be lower on power than the OS. The weight saving may help so give it a try. Good luck with it. If you ever damage carb body let me know i have a couple new ones.

Thanks jaspur, I built the Viper about 4 years ago, it was the second model I built after coming back to aeromodelling after a 37 year gap. I've flown it quite a bit, after getting over the dizzyness that such a long period between c/l models caused! It's scratch-built from the old Mercury kit plan.

try this for a getting dizzy experiment: cox peewee020,on a 5" wingsan, 1/8" thick sheet balsa with monokote , 6" long x 1 1/4" high x 1/4" balsa sheet fuse, 1" x 3" elevator and 1"x1" rudder.

Tail set flat , flush with the wing on the fuse, no elevator control or and ned for bellcrank.

1 single 15 ft long., 30lb test fishing line lead tied onto a stick for a "t" handle, attatched to wing tip at the leading edge. ( a hole down through the wing,2 small plastic washers and some epoxy.)

run a few tanks through that peewee and see if you get dizzy???
