We acquired about 3 dozen of them today from a former Cox distributor in Israel and they will ship them with other merchandise that we are waiting to be manufactured. ETA is aprx. end of June. No idea on pricing ... will have to do some research. They are OEM Cox ones from the past.

These pilots are circa very early 1990's.. and still reside in an old decommissioned fuse.

Pt-19 pilots Pilots10
Pt-19 pilots Pilots11
Pt-19 pilots Pilots12

They saw a good amount of action flying on 25' lines in my side-yard at that time. They saw a single AA alkaline battery-box mounted inner-fuse on the CG with a micro toggle sw./"stick" in the cockpit...hard-wired to the glow-head for fast hot-starts. A single 3.7V LiPo regulated down to 1.5V would do the trick today.. @ 1/10th the weight. It was fun though.. after a flight; pinning back into the stooge, re-fueling, switching-on and restarting without a glow-clip! I still have that old wiring harness, battery-box and switch somewhere... Shocked

Yes but we have not listed them yet as they are still in Israel, pending shipment with a batch of battery boxes and fuel tanks we ordered. They should be here somewhere at month's end.

That's the last version of the pilot, when they molded pilot body into fuselage, it first appears in 1978 catalog and is still shown in the '96 catalog.

Joe,

They are brand new but look like they were hand-painted, so there will be imperfections. Probably should have chosen one without a "chip" in the paint lol. However, the chips if any, are really tiny. It is just that, with megapixel cameras and the picture many times actual size, imperfections get magnified.

For instance, this crank http://coxengines.ca/cox-.049-killer-bee-diesel-crank.html (click on the picture to enlarge it) seems "rough" but is actually smoothly polished.

Again, the pilots are really nice but look as if Cox had them hand-painted at the time.

If there are only red-scarfed ones available.. (my PT19 has the pilot with a white scarf and navigator with a red scarf)

Pt-19 pilots Pilots10

My replacement fuse has square-holes where the pilots mount.

Pt-19 pilots Pt1910

Not sure if all the pilot heads where molded with the "square-peg" on the bottom.. but would imagine so.

Below is Cox International's file-photo of their pilot-head for reference.

Pt-19 pilots Pt19_l11

A quick and easy way to paint the scarf white, would be to use correction-fluid. It's matte-finish would look more like cloth too. I don't know how resistant to glow-fuel it would be.. but it's something to try.

One could also drill a hole in the bottom of this pilot-head and glue-in a short piece of hardwood dowel.. (a round birch toothpick for instance) to add realism to a balsa profile-models' cockpit! Turn his head slightly to one side.. for a little character!
