Advice on painting please
Finishing up parts of a S1 RingMaster and did a real good job of getting the fuselage and tail feathers glass smooth and light weight
I shot the stab, elevator and rudder with Red Rustoleum and the Fuselage with white...all pieces were primer shot with DC 540 greyish and wet sanded
I got a few dust motes in the red parts with some minor orange peel and the white is beautiful but also orange peeled
I wet sanded well and the orange peel is gone but obviously now all parts are dull matt
Do I re coat with the color or just shoot clear now?

"yes"
If you went through the color then you need to fix the color.
What clear are you using? Rustoleum clears are not exactly fuel resistant.

Re: Advice on painting please
I've used clear over flat paint and it comes out just as glossy is if I'd used gloss in the first place. I bet your sanded dull color will respond well if you smooth it with some light fine sanding. I've had trouble with Rustoleum on everything since the Yak. I think it's changed, so I'm moving on to others.
But consider the source, after yesterday my painting licence is up for revocation and I may have to repeat my last year of kindergarten.

Here's a cookie and a glass of milk too Rus...
Rustoleum's Alkyd-Enamel used to be their standard aerosol paint/coating years ago. It is HEAVY.. but yields a decent finish with very few coats and has very good resistance to glow-fuel. It used to state Alkyd Enamel on the front label.. but I haven't seen that actual description on their rattle-cans for years. Enamels are not all the same. The best thing to do is a little research before you make your purchase. Rustoleum still makes Alkyd Enamels.. but you need to know what product to buy. Just buying a spray-can of their (or any other manufacturers) Gloss Protective Enamel on impulse.. off the hardware store shelf, in a color that strikes you.. is taking a chance on how fuel-resistant it will be.
From what I've read recently; Rustoleum's enamel products labeled "Professional" High-Performance are their Alkyd formula. Their "Farm Equipment" aerosol cans for instance are an Alkyd Enamel.. but the colors are limited.

I have the Harry Higley book "There are no Secrets".. which is a great resource for the finisher. The book explains different finishes.. their advantages/dis-advantages, compatibility charts and application methods. It's a bit "dated" by today's standards; where it doesn't list some of the newer products that have emerged.. but it gives the modeler information on choices and explains the fact that a satisfactory finish can be achieved with patience and knowledge.. without spending a lot of money.
Re: Advice on painting please
The wet sanding 320 then 400 went well but some dissimilar color density across the panels so I decided to re shoot the Red and White using new cans, shook to hell, and set in hot Texas sun
Not painted out side this time...but inside shop with door open and box fan evacuating the mist over spray
A few mist coats then one wet heavy no sag coat....hang to dry and this morning the parts look very good
I think the heavy orange peel was the pre used cans and outside in a breeze painting
