On the clock P2160010

Spent some time switching cylinders and crankcases to clock the exhaust ports.  Which would be the preferred orientation of the exhaust ports?
The one on the left or the one on the right?  Does it really matter?  It looks good though. Surprised Surprised Surprised

Well, one school of thought is that the engine on the right
has the preferred exhaust positioning. Aligning the bypasses
with the the crankshaft rotation is supposed to encourage a
more efficient fuel/air mix, and increase the fuel feed to the
combustion chamber.
The subject has been mulled over plenty, but has not really
been tested.(afaik)

I’ve never experienced measurable gains regarding the exhaust position. Bob is correct the one on the right is preferred. I would imagine if it made a huge difference they would all be indexed the same way from the factory.

Thanks for all the input,
I can mount a good (new) cylinder/piston on various crankcases and see how it runs with various exhaust port positions. I'll use a non SPI cylinder to eliminate that variable. I don't know if anyone else has done this but curious minds want to know. Time to make some noise!

Strangely, many of my old stock 049 engines (some Tee Dees and red postage stamp backplate reedies ) came with the cylinder orientation shown on the right...as if COX had intentionally set it by either cutting the threads on the cylinder and crankcase to align the exhaust ports perpendicular to the crankshaft or, by manually selecting the parts to get this positioning...even the graphic images in catalogues and manuals show such cylinder port orientation..but later engines came with random exhaust port position relative the crankshaft..so even if COX initially wanted to boost engine output this way, they may have realized the negligible impact and given up he right angle  orientation to the cost cutting benefit by letting random setting occur ..

The cylinder/case on the right is terrific for cooking your fingers when your adjusting your needle.

Is made that way on plane Most cylinder point To left side facing the cars right side of the engine cars clock wise rotation point on the other side look is one cylinder from jerobee cars engine mount on plane engine and point in same direction the crankcase is new so no altération modification On the clock 16136710
Intake on the right side folow the rotation for cw left hand posible help performance tink its wy som engine like To start in wrong direction and run bether that way
