Cox Jeep Engine service
I will be taking apart my childhood Cox Jeep engine this week to clean before starting. I last started it around 1980 , and left it uncleaned with fuel in the tank. What replacement parts should I have on hand to replace when its apart. Thank you for your experience and help! Its nice to get back to the jeep after so many years!!

Re: Cox Jeep Engine service
The only part you may want to replace is the crankcase gasket, although the original can be reused if it remains in good condition after disassembly. The reed may also need to be replaced if it is deformed, creased or shows pinholes when held up to the light. You probably don't need to take the recoil apart any further than maybe the flywheel.
Depending on the condition of the original fuel tubing between the tank and engine, you may want to replace that as well.
Other than that, the engine and Jeep should clean up nicely. Flushing fresh fuel through the fuel tank a few times should clean most of the dried oil and fuel out.
